Channel Mechanics

Sean Treacy, Snr. Software Engineer

Channel Mechanics today announces our first new appointment of 2021, by welcoming Sean Treacy to our growing team. Sean joins our EMEA HQ taking up the role of Snr. Software Developer.

A native of Galway, Sean studied Computer Science in NUIG. Here he graduated with a Bachelors degree in 2013. Upon graduating, Sean took up a position with Storm Technology, a leading Irish Business Technology Consultancy, as a software engineer. This exciting role providing the opportunity to work on projects with a number of companies, including Avaya, the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform. It is also where he was first introduced to Channel Mechanics.

In 2019, Sean progressed to Planet. Here his role enabled him to gain invaluable experience by working on their Issuing and Assist Stream providing software for their tax free business. With a keen interest in Microsoft technologies, this enabled Sean to gain invaluable experience and knowledge on Microsoft .Net stack. Consequently, after 18 months with Planet, Sean felt it was the right time to further his career by taking up the role with Channel Mechanics.

Speaking about his appointment to Snr. Software Engineer:

Channel Mechanics is the kind of company where you have a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day. You are always learning and being challenged. The team is very welcoming and there is great knowledge and experience in the team across different generations. It is great to see the company going from strength to strength and I am glad to be a part of the journey”.

Sean Treacy

Outside of work, Sean likes to keep fit by staying active. Indeed, a must for someone spending over 8 hours each day sitting and working at their desk. To stay active during lockdown, he embraced a new passion; that of horticulture, trying his hand at growing his own vegetables. This included onions, tomatoes, carrots, potatoes and chilies, something he is keen to expand upon this year.

When not in the garden, you might find him in the kitchen as he likes to cook. In fact, he is a keen baker and learnt how to make bread from scratch during the first lockdown. In his previous company, he even won a charity Bake Off competition. Something he is very proud of, and something we, in Channel Mechanics, are looking forward to when we return to the office. He also has a keen interest in all aspects of engineering/science, both new and old, along with building projects and dabbling with old retro tech.
